Sixth Form - Pathways

A LEVEL ONLY – GREEN ROUTE

This is a two year pathway suited to students who want to only study A Levels. Students need to have achieved Grade 5 in both GCSE English and Maths and an additional minimum of 5 B Grades from their other GCSE subjects. They must have a minimum of a GCSE B Grade or equivalent in any subjects they want to study at A Level.

Students can progress to Higher Education or employment.

BTEC PATHWAY – PURPLE ROUTE

This is a two year pathway suited to students who want to focus on one subject area. Students need to have achieved Grade 5 in both GCSE English and Maths and an additional minimum of 5 C grades from their other GCSE subjects.

Students can progress to Higher Education with this qualification;

Possible qualifications            : Extended Diploma BTEC (equivalent to 3 A-Levels);

 

BTEC AND A LEVEL MIX – BLUE ROUTE

This is a two year pathway suited to students who would benefit from studying a mix of qualifications. Students need to have achieved Grade 5 in both GCSE English and Maths and an additional minimum of 5 C grades from their other GCSE subjects plus a GCSE B grade or equivalent in any subjects they want to study at A Level.

Students can progress to Higher Education or employment.

Possible qualifications : Extended Certificate BTEC (equivalent to one A Level);

                                       : A Level ;

Students will need to choose a combination of qualifications that add up to the equivalent of 4 A levels.

FOUNDATION PATHWAY – SILVER ROUTE

This is a one year pathway suited to students who do not achieve Grade 5 in GCSE English or Maths and have a majority of D grades in their other GCSEs. It provides a means of progression to Further Education at the end of the year.

Possible qualifications            : Certificate Level BTEC (equivalent to 0.5 of an A-Level);

                                           : Resit GCSE English and Maths;
