KS3 COURSE OVERVIEW English

In English, our KS3 curriculum is designed to prepare students for their GCSEs whilst also fostering a life-long love for literature.  During KS3, students are exposed to a range of literary heritage texts as well as modern ones.

Transition unit and the study of autobiographical writing.

Modern fiction followed by 'An introduction to Shakespeare' where students become familiar with a range of different Shakespeare playscripts and characters.  

An 'Introduction to Dickens' where students explore the Victorian era and study author's craft in a range of Dickensian texts.  Followed by 'Frankenstein' - the play.

Modern fiction study. 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas,' 'Private Peaceful' or 'Animal Farm.'

Shakespeare text ‘Romeo and Juliet.’

The study of poetry from a range of different cultures. and persuasive writing techniques.
